Driver: Full UK -manual driver’s licence

About the role

Julian is a 36-year-old man, living in the Southampton area, supported on a 3 -1 ratio. He has a diagnosis of autism and mild to moderate intellectual disability.

Julian has experienced a significant amount of change in his life to date, with multiple placement breakdowns, hospitalisation, and trauma informed care. Team members will need to be experienced in supporting individuals who can present with Behaviours than can challenge that cant always be predicted and therefore you will need to be a responsive and resilient, individual who is calm and patient in a highly pressurised environment.

Whilst experience within social care is desirable, we have seen that there are some extremely transferrable skills from other professions that will be considered.

Julian is a gentleman who enjoys, going for walks along the beach, listening to music, and swimming with his team members.

We are looking for team members who are outgoing and physically active. You will need to have the ability to set clear boundaries and do what you say you are going to do, so as to ensure you build trust and a positive working relationship.

Julian responds well to positive verbal prompts and requires support with shopping, cooking, household tasks and personal care.

Julian is very articulate and needs Team members to communicate in calm and positive manner.

About PBS4

We are a values led social care provider for adults with Neurodisability, we support people to live in their own homes, with their own tenancies and our model of support is a practice called Positive Behaviour Support. Our CEO Jonathan Beebee is a registered Learning Disabilities Nurse and qualified Behaviour Analyst. We are a medium-sized organisation supporting 35 people across Hampshire, Dorset, Berkshire and Oxfordshire and with a workforce of just over 300.

Within PBS4, we call Support Workers ‘Enablement Assistants’. As an Enablement Assistant you will have the support of a team of people dedicated to supporting that person. You will also be able to access support from the Enablement Manager, Deputy Enablement Manager and the Positive Behaviour Support Clinician who provide you and the team with management and leadership. Your shift pattern may consist of day shifts, waking nights and sleeps

Our approach is underpinned by Positive Behaviour Support. Positive Behaviour Support is an approach mostly used to support people with learning disabilities whose behaviours challenge others. The goal is to shift the focus away from reducing challenging behaviour to understanding what that behaviour means and supporting people to get what they need better.
