Job summary

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a band 5 to join our team of neuro-rehabilitation occupational therapists at OCE.

The Neurological Rehabilitation Service at the OCE provides in and outpatientrehabilitation for adults with neurological disorders and a day service for patients with longterm neurological disorders.The Occupational Therapy team provides specialist assessment and treatment to patientsadmitted to the service working within a interdisciplinary team of physiotherapists, nurses,doctors, speech and language therapists and clinical psychologists.


Main duties of the job

As a band 5 OT at OCE you will be:

Working autonomously as part of the Occupational Therapy teamproviding assessment and treatment to patients referred to the service.Have your own caseload and work under the guidance of the senior OTs/Lead OT as appropriate.Working as part of the interdisciplinary team at OCE providing specialistrehabilitation.Assisting the Lead Occupational Therapist in the provision, monitoringand development of the Occupational Therapy Service in the Oxford Centrefor EnablementResponsible for maintaining and developing your own continuousprofessional development.

Communication:1. To liaise with all members of the inter-disciplinary team (IDT) patients,carers, other Health and social care services, including attendance atward rounds, goal planning meetings to facilitate safe and effectivedischarges.2. To identify treatment programmes for patients, and to report onoccupational therapy assessment and treatment progress with thesupport and guidance of the Senior OTs3. To liaise with the Lead or Senior Occupational Therapists in themanagement and prioritisation of the caseload.4. To promote good working relationships with all disciplines within theIDT, Oxford Centre for Enablement ,the directorate and OUH and toliaise and network with COT Specialist Sections as appropriate5. To attend staff meetings, Band 5 Support Group and other servicerelated meetings.

Clinical Responsibilities:1.. To undertake occupational therapy assessment, and treatment, to inand outpatients referred to the Occupational Therapy Neurological RehabilitationService under the supervision and guidance of the Senior OTs.2. To assist the Lead or Senior Occupational Therapists in the day-to-daysupervision and delegation of routine occupational therapy activities to the OTassistants or technicians where appropriate.3. To record all occupational therapy intervention in compliance with theOUH, Royal College of Occupational Therapy and NHS guidelines.4. To evaluate continuously occupational therapy intervention and tomaintain and develop a high standard of clinical and professional practice at alltimes.5. To carry out discharge home visits in liaison with health and social careagencies to identify equipment and care needs for discharge and identify and referto appropriate onward services6. To work as part of the interdisciplinary team providing neurologicalrehabilitation individually and in groups7. To agree and set IDT rehabilitation goals, with the treating team withingoal planning meetings
