Companion is seeking an ambitious and driven Senior Agent to join our London office and drive work for our varied roster of 11 photographer/directors, nurture client relationships, and oversee commercial project management.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years experience in visual artist representation, with a watertight understanding of pricing and negotiation, commercial film and photography production, image rights and licensing, and an expansive knowledge of clients and agencies within advertising, fashion, and editorial.

The role is focused on artist and project management, and you must be able to run projects autonomously, and demonstrate a keen eye for creative marketing and strategy. Previous managerial experience is welcomed. Please note, this is a hybrid role, requiring a minimum of 3 days a week in-office. You must be able to commute to East London.

You will be a key part of Companion’s growth, helping to shape the future of our business in collaboration with our Founder & Managing Director, and defining career strategies for our artists. You will work collaboratively with our Producer to ensure that shoots run efficiently, and clients have a positive working experience with Companion. You will also be responsible for delegating to supporting staff and our Agency Assistant.


Responsibilities

* Responsible for artist management, and development of overarching career strategies, for our photography/directing roster, with clearly defined quarterly and yearly goals
* Delivering monthly agency and artist-by-artist earnings reports to Managing Director
* Project management and negotiation of fees and usage, on commercial enquiries with top tier artists and high value clients (production budgets up to £500k in scale)
* Delegating appropriate projects to Agent/Producer, and supporting tasks to Agency Assistant
* Autonomously identifying marketing opportunities for our roster, and working on relevant outreach to ensure clients are kept up to date with new work
* Booking and attending regular portfolio meetings with key clients in UK and Europe, in collaboration with Founder & Managing Director
* Invoicing clients on owned projects, and responsible for ensuring Artist invoices are received correctly and on time for efficient cashflow management
* Occasional travel for new business trips in Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Stockholm, and wider Europe
* Working collaboratively with Managing Director to shape Companion’s overall aesthetic and sign new talent - identifying exciting new voices within photography (and related disciplines) for expansion of roster
* Minimum 5 years professional working experience in visual artist management and/or production
* An expansive contacts network within brands, advertising agencies, and production within the UK and Europe
* A high level of understanding of the contemporary photography, film, advertising, and commercial landscape, incl relevant practitioners
* Expert negotiator with a skilled and nuanced approach to problem-solving, able to anticipate challenges as they arise
* Supervisory or managerial experience line-managing junior team members
* Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
* A positive and friendly attitude, and adaptable management approach
* Confidence in multi-tasking and juggling conflicting priorities
* Detail-oriented nature and commitment to achieving results
* Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite (proficiency in Notion, and Canva/Pitch.com also welcomed)
