This is an exciting opportunity to join the Resuscitation Team at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust as a Resuscitation Officer. The post holder will support the delivery of a high-quality, evidence-based resuscitation service across the Trust, including education, clinical response, audit and service improvement.
The role will focus on delivering and developing life support training in line with national standards, supporting staff to maintain competence in managing the deteriorating patient and cardiac arrest. The post holder will also provide expert clinical support during resuscitation events, contribute to audit and learning, and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient safety and outcomes across all sites.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the delivery and ongoing development of high-quality resuscitation services across Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. Working as a core member of the Resuscitation Team, the post holder will contribute to a comprehensive, evidence-based service encompassing education, clinical response, professional advice, audit and learning.
The post holder will contribute to the delivery of high standards of resuscitation training and specialist expertise across the Trust, working in close collaboration with other members of the Resuscitation Team and multidisciplinary colleagues. This will include a combination of directly delivering training and supporting the coordination and delivery of education alongside other instructors and cascade trainers.
The role will support the organisation, coordination and delivery of training for staff groups as required. This includes medical, nursing, and allied health professionals, as well as other Trust employees who are required to maintain resuscitation competencies as part of their role. All training will be delivered in line with Resuscitation Council UK guidance, with the post holder maintaining up-to-date knowledge of national developments in resuscitation practice and education.

Job responsibilities
Clinical and Specialist Practice
* Act as a specialist resource on resuscitation and the deteriorating patient, providing expert advice to multidisciplinary teams.
* Maintain clinical credibility through active participation in the Resuscitation Team and attendance at cardiac arrest calls.
* Promote best practice in cardiopulmonary resuscitation in line with Resuscitation Council UK guidance.
Education, Training and Workforce Development
* Deliver and support high-quality resuscitation training programmes (BLS, ILS, ALS) for all relevant staff groups.
* Contribute to the design, planning and evaluation of education programmes to meet organisational and national standards.
* Identify training needs and support the development of learning resources and cascade trainers.
* Support teaching, supervision and development of staff, including students and newly appointed colleagues.
Clinical Governance and Patient Safety
* Support the collection, analysis and reporting of cardiac arrest and training data to inform quality improvement.
* Contribute to audit, incident review and learning from resuscitation events.
* Assist in the development, review and implementation of policies, procedures and guidelines related to resuscitation.
* Promote safe, ethical decision-making in relation to DNACPR and ReSPECT processes.
Leadership and Collaboration
* Provide professional leadership and act as a role model, promoting a culture of safety, learning and continuous improvement.
* Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across Trust sites to ensure consistent standards of practice.
* Contribute to local, regional and national networks to share learning and best practice.

Person Specification
QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING
* Registered Nurse
* Masters level qualification or equivalent qualifications or knowledge
* Evidence of recognised teaching / mentorship qualification
* Qualifications in relevant speciality
COMMUNICATION AND RELATIONSHIPS (INCLUDING MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES)
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Basic IT skills
* Ability to work alone as well as part of a team
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE
* Previous teaching experience
* Experience in care of the acutely ill patient
* Resuscitation Council (UK) Advanced Life Support Instructor
* Understanding of the role in relation to other wider hospital pressures and organisational objectives
* Experience in the care of the acutely ill paediatric patient
* Resuscitation Council (UK) Advanced Paediatric Life Support Course
