My client, a well-established and growing professional services firm, is seeking an experienced Tax Adviser to join their Agriculture and Property Tax team. This role will involve delivering high-quality tax compliance and advisory services to a varied client portfolio, including business owners, partnerships, high-net-worth individuals, and associated trusts and companies.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong and commercially minded tax professional to play a key role in a specialist team, working closely with managers, directors, and partners while supporting the continued development of the practice.
Responsibilities
• Manage tax compliance for a mixed portfolio of clients, including individuals, partnerships, businesses, trusts, and related entities.
• Support managers, directors, and partners on a range of complex tax advisory projects, ensuring technical accuracy and a pragmatic, commercial approach.
• Deliver tax planning and advisory work including:
o Inheritance Tax planning and appraisals
o Capital Gains Tax planning and compliance
o VAT and Stamp Duty Land Tax advice
• Liaise with HMRC in relation to enquiries and investigations, both in writing and by telephone.
• Review tax returns prepared by junior team members, ensuring quality and compliance.
• Assist with the training and development of junior staff.
• Provide tax support to other departments within the firm as required.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication.
• Identify tax planning opportunities and introduce additional services where appropriate.
• Attend relevant training courses and ensure CPD requirements are met.
• Support business development through internal referrals and contribution to team growth.
• Assist with wider team and firm initiatives as required.
Skills and Knowledge
• Strong technical knowledge across personal and business taxation.
• Good understanding of Capital Taxes, including CGT and IHT.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and high standards of technical accuracy.
• Commercially aware with a client-focused mindset.
• Confident working collaboratively and contributing ideas.
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and tax software, with experience interacting with HMRC online services.
Essential qualifications/experience:
• ACA, ACCA and/or CTA qualified.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a tax role within a practice environment.
