Overview
Harris Hill Charity Recruitment Specialists is partnering with the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) to recruit their new Governance Manager. This is a permanent, full-time role offered on a hybrid basis with three days per week based in the IChemE’s Rugby office. The Governance Manager will support the Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer in driving innovation and a culture of continuous improvement in governance processes and procedures across the organisation.

Responsibilities
* Lead the organisation in ensuring it operates with the highest standards of governance and compliance.
* Act as a trusted adviser to the Chief Executive, Senior Leadership Team, and Board of Trustees.
* Oversee the effective administration of the Board, member advisory bodies, and committees; manage meeting cycles, prepare first-class papers, and ensure clear follow-up on all actions.
* Play a key role in succession planning, recruitment, and induction for governance roles.
* Foster strong relationships with senior leaders, members, and volunteers.
* Keep governing documents and policies up to date and aligned with best practice; ensure committees are appropriately constituted; embed a culture of continuous improvement in governance processes.
* Oversee contract management and advise on contractual terms; liaise with external legal advisers when necessary.
Qualifications
* Exceptional organiser and communicator with significant experience in a senior governance and compliance role.
* Experience working with boards or committees; strong grasp of governance frameworks; ability to interpret and apply governing documents and legislation.
* Chartered membership of a relevant professional body (such as CGI) would be highly desirable; experience in charity governance is advantageous.
