Quality Inspector (Contract) Telford Salary: Competitive dependent on experience Job Overview An opportunity has arisen for a Quality Inspector to join an established engineering organisation within a Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) team. The role plays a key part in ensuring incoming parts and materials meet required specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations. The successful candidate will support day-to-day quality inspection activities, contributing to customer satisfaction, compliance, delivery performance, and cost control, while adhering to health and safety and corporate procedures. Key Responsibilities Inspect incoming components and materials to verify correct quantities and compliance with purchase orders Ensure components meet required quality standards and specifications Liaise with relevant internal departments to support efficient booking-in and material flow Maintain accurate quality records, documentation, and filing in line with company procedures Support internal, customer, and third-party audits when required Maintain high standards of housekeeping and comply with 5S principles Participate in quality and QHSE activities, including Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement initiatives Undertake training to ensure compliance with regulatory, legislative, and corporate requirements Provide support across other areas of the materials management function, including kitting, stocktaking, and dispatch Be flexible and willing to work overtime, including evenings and weekends, as business demands require Travel occasionally for work purposes, including overnight stays where necessary Skills and Experience Essential: High level of attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy Ability to read and interpret engineering and CAD drawings Experience using measurement equipment such as micrometers, verniers, and other inspection tools Good verbal and written communication skills Strong organisational and time management skills Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to changing priorities Computer literate, with basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel (training provided) Able to work independently as well as part of a team Reliable, punctual, and professional with a proactive can-do attitude Demonstrates problem-solving skills and sound judgement Desirable: Time-served apprenticeship in an engineering discipline Previous experience in a quality inspection or engineering manufacturing environment Personal Attributes Flexible and adaptable Calm and methodical under pressure Quality-focused with a commitment to continuous improvement Strong work ethic and positive approach to teamwork This role is ideal for an experienced Quality Inspector or engineering professional seeking a hands-on role within a technical and quality-driven environment.
