Contract / Position Details

* Duration: Dependent on individual student needs
* Hours: Part-time (10-15 hours per week)
* Session Length: Minimum 1 hour, maximum 3 hours per session
* Pay Rate: £25-£30 per hour
About the Opportunity
Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced SEN Tutor to deliver bespoke 1:1 education packages to young people with complex Special Educational Needs (SEN) who are currently not attending school. Students present with a range of complex SEND needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), non‑verbal communication needs, profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), global learning delay and social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). Many pupils have been out of education for an extended period and may be awaiting a specialist school placement. The successful tutor will provide structured, personalised support to help bridge learning gaps, build confidence and support both academic and emotional development. Prospero Teaching will work closely with the tutor to monitor progress and ensure effective learning outcomes for each pupil.
Experience, Training and Qualifications
* QTS, QTLS, PGCE, EYFS or equivalent qualification
* Previous experience supporting young people with complex SEN
* Minimum of 6 months’ experience working in a UK school
* Up-to-date safeguarding training (desirable but not essential)
* Personal care experience (desirable but not essential)
Eligibility Requirements
* Right to work in the UK
* Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or willingness to process a new application
* Two professional child‑related references covering the last two years
