430624 Senior Scientist – Soluble Biomarkers

We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join the UK Soluble Biomarkers team in our Biomarkers and Bioanalytical Platforms division. The successful candidate will be based at the GSK R&D campus in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.

Our team of lab-based scientists develops bespoke immunoassays to measure soluble biomarkers in clinical study samples, using a variety of analytical platforms. The data we generate is critical to help GSK project teams make key decisions on the development of new medicines.

Please note that due to the nature of this position, a regular onsite presence will be required.

In this role you will

* Develop and validate ligand-binding assays for soluble biomarker endpoints in early-stage clinical studies (e.g. enabling and first-time-in-human)
* Perform sample analysis and be accountable for delivering biomarker results to study teams in a timely manner, ensuring full compliance with GCP regulations
* Work with the rest of the team to ensure day-to-day responsibilities are met (equipment/consumable management, reviewing laboratory records and reports etc.)
* Work with our CRO partners to manage assay transfers as required
* Build effective relationships with our business partners, both internal and external
* Employ a technology/platform-agnostic mindset and an automation-first approach when developing new methods or assessing new modalities
* Drive innovation and actively contribute to process improvements (scientific, regulatory/quality)

Why you?

Basic Qualifications & Skills:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

* Graduate (or higher) degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry or pharmacology
* Experience running bioanalytical or biomarker studies, with a focus on good record keeping and data integrity and preferably in a GxP regulated environment
* Experience in the development and validation of quantitative immunoassays using one or more of the following: MSD, Gyrolab, SIMOA
* Ability to work collaboratively within a team, effectively manage multiple priorities, and present both written and oral communications to R&D stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply:

* Experience in tailoring bespoke biomarker assay validations to the context of use for the data
* Understanding of regulatory aspects of human biological sample management and Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
* Experience of interacting with LabQA/regulatory inspectors
* Experience with automated liquid handling platforms (e.g. Labcyte Echo, SPT Labtech DragonFly, Agilent BRAVO, Hamilton STAR)
* Experience using Thermo Watson LIMS
