The Councils Corporate Procurement Team play an instrumental role in procuring requirements whilst enabling best practice and delivering best value.
This presents an exciting opportunity for a motivated and customer focused procurement professional to join and enhance the Councils procurement team where you will play a key role in achieving the Council’s ambitions. As a Procurement Officer, you shall work closely with Category Managers and Senior Procurement Officers to lead or support a combination of strategic, high-value, complex and usually regulated procurement activity on behalf of the council service areas.
You will therefore have extended relevant procurement experience, and be ready to lead tender activity by having relevant experience of including preparation of contract notices, preparation of tender packs; administering tender process; tender evaluation; and preparation contract award notifications with debrief information.
You will have a working knowledge of the relevant legislation, regulations, and governance applicable to public sector procurement. You must be able to give advice to service areas that determines the best procurement approach to maximise best value for the council. You should be able to mentor and develop colleagues in procurement. You must have sound judgement, a professional and collaborative approach, with good verbal and written communication. Good analytical skills are also deemed essential, as is experience using office applications and purchase to pay systems.
For this position you must have an SVQ3/HNC in a relevant discipline, and it is desirable that you are pursuing CIPS qualification.
Work pattern:
35 hours per week - Monday - Thursday: 08:45am - 16:45pm (including a 55 minute unpaid break)
Friday: 08:45am - 16:15pm (including a 50 minute unpaid break)
