Overview
Clinical Team Manager opportunity at Greater Manchester Mental Health Tactical Advice Service (GM MHTAS). GM MHTAS is a triage service that provides real time clinical advice to police personnel on scene with individuals experiencing mental health crisis and to custody staff. The post holder will support the Senior Mental Health Practitioners on duty to ensure mental health vulnerability is considered and high quality information and clinical advice are provided when individuals come into contact with Greater Manchester Police. The post holder will support the Operational Manager in carrying continuing professional and managerial responsibility for the clinical team, contributing to the maintenance of the overall service standards. The post holder will embrace the core values of the organisation. GM MHTAS is currently going through consultation and will soon be part of the GM Mental Health Urgent Triage Team (MHUT) based at Middlebrook in Bolton. MHUT is an expanding urgent care service across the Greater Manchester footprint; this can be discussed in more detail at interview stage.
Responsibilities
* Provide effective leadership to the designated team.
* Participate in and provide regular clinical supervision as per Trust policy.
* Complete IPDRs with designated team as per Trust policy.
* Deputise for and represent the Operational Manager when required.
* Implement workload supervision to monitor the standards of service user care and professional advice delivered.
* Work with local services to enhance pathways, seeking opportunities when clinically appropriate to reduce demand on emergency services and improve the experience of the service user.
* Develop and maintain effective working partnerships with services; ensure record keeping is in accordance with professional and Trust standards by completing regular clinical audits with the team; participate and take a lead in promoting positive interagency working.
* Manage the Health Roster for 24 hour shift pattern.
* Ensure a safe space for the team during regular staff meetings and case reviews.
* Undertake a senior practitioner role as required within the service to maintain direct assessment and care skills/working knowledge of the service.
* Formulate and implement local clinical and operational practices and procedures as appropriate.
* Take a lead in recruitment, selection and induction processes in accordance with all three Trust policies.
* Proactively support the formulation and implementation of clinical and operational practices and procedures as appropriate.

Meets the requirements of the Job Specification
* Essential: Understanding of urgent care services across GM including mental health liaison, community mental health teams and home based treatment teams.
* Desirable: Experience in service improvement and organisational change.
* Management experience – Essential: Evidence of leadership experience; Experience of working within Mental Health services.
* Desirable: Experience in service improvement; Compassionate leader.
* Good communicator – Essential: Evidence of strong communication skills.
* Desirable: A good understanding of supervisions and appraisals.
