Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a passionate Sous Chef at our Portsmouth restaurant. The Sous Chef will support the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring quality preparation and presentation of dishes, and managing inventory and food safety standards. Responsibilities include leading and mentoring the kitchen team, assisting in menu planning, maintaining hygiene and safety compliance, and managing food costs and waste. The Sous Chef will play a crucial role in delivering an exceptional dining experience for our guests while fostering a collaborative and efficient kitchen environment.
Qualifications
* Strong culinary and food preparation skills, including experience in Italian cuisine and knowledge of authentic regional recipes
* Leadership and team management experience, with the ability to mentor and develop kitchen staff
* Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations, and experience ensuring compliance with these standards
* Proficiency in inventory management, food cost control, and minimizing waste
* Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work seamlessly with both kitchen and front-of-house teams
* Previous experience in a similar role within a restaurant environment
* Catering or culinary qualifications are a strong advantage
* A passion for Italian cuisine and creating exceptional dining experiences
