Wickens Engineering is an established UK engineering and manufacturing business with more than 50 years of trading history. The company specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of high‑performance storage solutions for complex, heavy‑duty and demanding operational environments.


Role Overview

Wickens Engineering is seeking an Internal Marketing & Business Development Coordinator to support the delivery of its marketing and commercial growth strategy.

This is a hands‑on, commercially focused role designed to bridge the gap between marketing, sales and wider business activity. The successful candidate will coordinate day‑to‑day marketing activity, support lead generation and nurturing, improve communication with prospects and customers, and help ensure that marketing activity translates into stronger sales opportunities.

The role will suit an experienced, proactive and organised marketer who is comfortable working in a technical B2B environment and who understands the importance of aligning marketing activity with commercial outcomes.

The successful candidate will work closely with the sales, operations and engineering teams, while also receiving strategic guidance and mentoring from Wickens’ external marketing partner.


Role Purpose

To support Wickens’ growth by creating more consistent, coordinated and commercially focused marketing activity.


Key Responsibilities

* Generate and nurture higher‑quality direct enquiries
* Improve follow‑up and conversion from existing enquiry volumes
* Strengthen communication with prospects, customers and trade partners
* Support account development, re‑engagement and customer retention
* Develop content that demonstrates Wickens’ engineering expertise and project capability
* Improve alignment between marketing activity, website content, sales conversations and business development priorities


Marketing Coordination

* Coordinate day‑to‑day marketing activity across digital, content, email, social media and sales support channels
* Support the delivery of marketing campaigns aligned to Wickens’ core products, target sectors and commercial objectives
* Maintain a consistent marketing calendar covering campaigns, content, case studies, LinkedIn activity, email communications and website updates
* Liaise with external specialists where required, including PPC, SEO, website, design, video and content suppliers
* Ensure marketing activity is delivered consistently, on time and in line with Wickens’ brand positioning


Content & Communications

* Create, coordinate and manage content for LinkedIn, email campaigns, website updates, events and sales materials
* Support the development of product‑led and sector‑specific content focused on customer challenges, engineering capability and real‑world applications
* Help gather information from sales, operations, engineering and installation teams to identify content opportunities
* Coordinate case studies that demonstrate Wickens’ capability in complex, bespoke and heavy‑duty storage projects
* Support the creation of engineer profiles, project stories, technical insights and authority‑building content
* Ensure messaging consistently reflects Wickens’ position as an engineering‑led storage solutions provider


Lead Nurturing & Sales Support

* Work closely with the sales team to support enquiry follow‑up, lead nurturing and conversion activity
* Develop structured communication journeys for prospects, trade customers and existing accounts
* Support re‑engagement campaigns for dormant enquiries, lapsed customers and previous project contacts
* Assist in identifying upsell, cross‑sell and repeat business opportunities within the existing customer base
* Provide sales teams with relevant content, case studies and marketing materials to support conversations and proposals
* Help improve visibility of enquiry sources, prospect status and follow‑up activity


Email Marketing & CRM Support

* Support segmented email marketing campaigns for trade and direct audiences
* Maintain and segment marketing data, ensuring communications are relevant, timely and targeted
* Support use of CRM and email marketing tools to improve follow‑up, tracking and reporting
* Help build communication workflows for new enquiries, existing customers and key account development
* Monitor engagement and recommend improvements to email and nurture activity


Website, SEO & Digital Support

* Coordinate website updates to ensure content remains accurate, relevant and conversion‑focused
* Support SEO and GEO activity by helping produce high‑quality, intent‑led content
* Work with external specialists to improve landing pages, product pages and enquiry pathways
* Help ensure PPC, SEO, website content and sales messaging are aligned
* Monitor website and campaign performance, supporting improvements to user journey and conversion


Reporting & Performance Tracking

* Support regular reporting on marketing performance, enquiry volumes, lead quality and campaign activity
* Help track conversion performance by channel, campaign and audience segment
* Maintain visibility of key marketing and sales activity to support informed decision‑making
* Work with internal and external teams to identify opportunities for improvement
* Ensure marketing activity is measured against commercial outcomes, not awareness metrics alone


Internal Collaboration

* Build strong working relationships with sales, operations, engineering, installation and leadership teams
* Act as a key point of coordination between internal teams and external marketing support
* Encourage the sharing of project information, customer insights and technical expertise across the business
* Support a proactive and joined‑up approach to marketing, sales and account development


Skills & Experience – Essential

* Experience in marketing, marketing coordination, and business development
* Strong understanding of B2B marketing (ideally within manufacturing, engineering, construction, logistics, industrial or technical sectors)
* Excellent written communication skills with the ability to translate technical information into clear, customer‑focused content
* Experience coordinating campaigns, content, email marketing and social media activity
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
* Commercially minded, with an understanding of lead generation, conversion and customer journeys
* Confident working with sales teams and wider internal stakeholders
* Comfortable using CRM, email marketing, analytics or reporting tools
* Proactive, practical and able to take ownership of day‑to‑day activity


Skills & Experience – Desirable

* Degree educated (or equivalent experience), ideally supported by a CIM qualification or working towards CIM qualification
* Experience in technical B2B, engineering, manufacturing, industrial products or built environment sectors
* Experience supporting PPC, SEO, website optimisation or content marketing activity
* Experience developing case studies, customer stories or technical content
* Knowledge of CRM systems and marketing automation tools
* Experience working with external agencies or specialist suppliers
