About the role
At Cafcass we’re recruiting Children’s Social Workers (Family Court Advisers – FCAs) to support the welfare of children involved in private and public law family court proceedings.
We offer two posts: one in the Peterborough and South Lincolnshire area and one in either Lincolnshire, Peterborough or Cambridshire. FCAs work with children, local authorities and a wide range of professionals to represent children’s views and advocate for their best interests.
Responsibilities
* Complete high‑quality assessments by engaging directly with children to understand their experiences, wishes and feelings and ensuring these are represented to the family court.
* Apply risk‑assessment, analysis and mediation skills to advocate for solutions that place the child’s safety, wellbeing and long‑term interests at the centre of decision‑making.
* Work with adults, local authorities and professionals to resolve complex issues and influence better outcomes for children.
Qualifications and Experience
* Social Work qualification (diploma or degree).
* Right to work in the UK – Cafcass does not sponsor.
* Registration with Social Work England (or ability to register quickly if practising outside England).
* Recent, relevant experience working directly with children and families.
* Desirable: experience in family court proceedings or knowledge of Private and/or Public Law.
* For those with limited post‑qualifying experience, pre‑qualifying experience supporting children and families is beneficial.
* Strong organisational skills, professional resilience and the ability to work independently while managing a varied caseload.
