About This Opportunity
Join Cumberland Council as a Senior Bridge Engineer. Lead bridge designs, assessments, maintenance projects, and bridge replacement schemes. Manage a small team, act as the team's representative for the Safety Advisory Group (SAG), and ensure compliance with standards. Provide technical design and project advice, act as Technical Approval Authority, supervise, coordinate, and support the bridge team. Conduct surveys, design, and manage project progress. Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks, council policies, and industry best practices.

Role Details
This role is available on a permanent basis. It may require occasional weekend or out-of-hours work to accommodate reactive work during or following significant flood events, and as the team’s representative with the Safety Advisory Group to ensure the Council's duties under relevant safety acts are fulfilled.
Who We’re Looking For
We seek a professional with a relevant degree and Chartered Engineer status with the Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) or Institute of Structural Engineers (ISTRUCTE). Consideration may be given to candidates in the process of progressing to Chartered Status with a minimum of 10 years postgraduate experience in bridge design. Strong communication skills and knowledge of national standards and Eurocodes are essential. Experience in stadiums and building design/construction is advantageous.
