Psychology Graduate – SEN Teaching Assistant
Havering, East London

The School

This specialist SEN school in Havering supports children and young people aged 5–19 with autism as a primary diagnosis, as well as additional needs such as speech and language difficulties, cognitive challenges, and social communication needs. The Role – Psychology Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant

* Full-time, long-term role starting this September
* Work 1:1 and with small groups of students with complex needs
* Support pupils with communication, social skills, and emotional regulation
* Assist with daily routines and provide tailored learning support
* Collaborate with SEN teachers, therapists, and specialist staff on individual support plans
* Gain hands-on experience with therapeutic approaches, interventions, and EHCP processes

Person Specification

* Minimum 2:1 degree in Psychology (or a closely related subject)
* Previous experience supporting young people with SEN (e.g. school, tutoring, youth work, or care) is desirable
* Patient, empathetic, and resilient with a calm, proactive approach
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* A genuine interest in SEN, mental health, and child development
