The Opportunity
We have a unique opportunity for an Air Quality & Climate Consultant due to an increasing climate-focused pipeline. You will join our Air Quality and Climate team during a period of growth, contributing to large-scale projects including climate risk assessments, air quality permitting, and habitat regulation assessments. This role offers a chance to diversify into climate-related work, support team growth, and mentor apprentices, with flexible hybrid work options across several UK locations.
The Role
You will support project delivery, work collaboratively, and receive mentorship and development opportunities. Responsibilities include:
* Preparing reports, designs, calculations, and documentation for environmental schemes.
* Conducting air quality assessments and supporting permit applications.
* Performing climate risk assessments and developing adaptation plans.
* Supporting bid writing and business development efforts.
* Mentoring junior colleagues and promoting health and safety practices.
Specific Tasks
Air Quality:
* Supporting qualitative and quantitative assessments following industry guidance.
* Developing and checking dispersion models, managing traffic data, and post-processing results.
* Supporting environmental permit applications and compliance management.
Climate:
* Conducting climate risk assessments using UKCP18, GIS, and other tools.
* Developing climate resilience strategies and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
* Recommending adaptation and mitigation measures.
Business Development
* Supporting growth initiatives, proposal preparation, and staying informed on climate science and policies.
What You Bring
* Relevant degree in science/engineering, with membership or progression towards IAQM/IEMA.
* Knowledge of UK/EU environmental legislation and experience with EIAs and permitting.
* Experience with climate data, ADMS models, GIS, and analytical skills.
* Strong communication, project management, and collaborative skills.
