The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Operations Director to join our dynamic team. This is a key leadership role requiring in-depth knowledge of the second-hand clothing industry and the specific needs of global export markets. You will oversee all operational aspects of the business—from stock movement and staff management to quality control, health and safety, and financial performance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee day-to-day business operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and timely deliveries
* Manage stock movement, from sorting and grading to packing and dispatch
* Maintain strict quality standards in line with market-specific requirements
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers in West Africa, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East
* Lead and support operational staff, ensuring smooth workflow and accountability
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and manage all related issues proactively
* Oversee operational budgets and ensure financial profitability across departments
* Be available to support operations outside of standard working hours as needed
* Proven experience in the second-hand clothing industry
* Strong understanding of quality expectations in West African, Eastern European, and Middle Eastern markets
* A thorough understanding of grading standards for the European, Middle Eastern, African, and Pakistani markets is essential.
* Excellent people management and team leadership skills
* Experience with stock control, warehouse operations, and logistics
* Strong communication and customer service abilities
* Solid knowledge of health and safety management
* Ability to monitor and enhance operational financial performance
* Flexible, hands-on approach with out-of-hours availability
