Job Summary
Clinical Technologist role within the Nuclear Medicine Group at The Christie, providing a specialist PET‑CT service. Work with two SPECT‑CT cameras and a PET‑CT scanner, including extensive molecular radiotherapy and in‑vitro services. Extended working days and weekends are required.
Responsibilities
* Manage all aspects of the clinical PET‑CT service and perform patient investigations in accordance with established protocols.
* Ensure all staff training for clinical PET‑CT is appropriate, up to date and that protocols and training programmes are updated.
* Supervise junior staff and assist in the training of staff, students and trainees.
* Write and update protocols and training programmes for all clinical PET‑CT procedures, including contrast studies.
* Participate in the PET‑CT Academy for delivery of PET‑CT study days.
* Maintain accreditation of the service and ensure all quality assurance and audit requirements are met.
Qualifications & Experience
* Scientific degree (BSc) or equivalent in a relevant subject, or Postgraduate Diploma/equivalent.
* Knowledge and experience equivalent to MSc level in nuclear medicine/PET‑CT.
* Significant experience of delivering teaching and training.
* Appropriate state registration (HCPC, RCT or equivalent).
* Substantial experience of working in clinical nuclear medicine and PET‑CT.
* Professional registration with the Register of Clinical Technologists or State Registration as a Radiographer.
Person Specification
* Extensive experience of clinical nuclear medicine and PET‑CT, including delivery of imaging studies and management of PET‑CT service.
* Participation in CPD and previous NHS managerial experience.
* Sympathetic approach to patients, good communication skills and ability to work both within a team and independently.
* Ability to keep accurate and legible written records, work safely, quickly and meticulously with good manipulative skills.
* In‑depth understanding of radiation protection, advanced understanding of nuclear medicine/PET‑CT principles and manual handling techniques.
* Self‑motivated, able to work without direct supervision, work effectively under pressure and flexible approach to working hours.
