Job Role Details
As Crop Trials Research Assistant, you will be responsible for researching and developing a wide range of agricultural crops to support the Research Agronomists and Station Manager.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct R&D activities, including application, planting, sampling, assessment, recording, analysing, and harvesting of crop commodities.
* Work on field and glasshouse studies on crops including cereals, potatoes, oilseed rape, and vegetables.
* Prepare and handle seed stocks and chemical stocks for maintenance and treatments.
* Support the Research Agronomist in executing and coordinating research activities, ensuring high-quality trials and timely reporting.
* Maintain good communication with the team and stakeholders.
* Stay updated with relevant methodologies and guidelines.
* Act as a technical contact and contribute to company growth.
* Ensure safe and compliant use of chemicals and maintain a contamination-free environment.
* Analyze and present data using specialist software.
* Ensure site activities comply with corporate rules and safety standards.
Ideal Candidate Skills & Qualifications
* At least 2 years' experience in crop trials, R&D, crop husbandry, or agronomy.
* BSc or higher in Agriculture, Agronomy, Life Sciences, or similar.
* PA1 and PA6 NPTC Certificates.
* Full UK Driver's License.
* IT literacy.
* Excellent communication skills and self-motivation.
Desirable Skills
* Additional NPTC certificates (PA2, PA11, PA9, PA4).
* BASIS qualification in Crop Protection.
Qualifications and certificates are desirable but training can be provided.
