We are seeking to recruit passionate, knowledgeable, and thoughtful practitioners to join our Student Success and Support team.
You will work as part of a team of mental health and wellbeing practitioners supporting students experiencing emotional or mental health difficulties, or significant life stressors such as domestic abuse or bereavement, impacting their ability to study safely and successfully.
As a mental health and wellbeing adviser, you will collaborate compassionately with students to understand their experiences and suggest interventions and strategies to improve their circumstances. You will guide students through available interventions within and outside the university, including statutory and third-sector organizations.
You should be confident in risk assessment and management, proactively managing student cases involving risk to self, studies, or occasionally the wider community, and implementing appropriate processes such as Support to Study when necessary. You will liaise regularly with external support providers like GPs, NHS Mental Health teams, and Social Services, ensuring students are connected with appropriate support based on their needs.
You will act as a first point of contact for student and staff referrals via our Care and Concern pathway, making timely contact with students or others raising concerns. When students meet the threshold for reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act, you will ensure disability support is offered, working closely with other teams to provide proactive support aimed at maximizing positive outcomes in continuation and attainment.
You will work collaboratively and student-centered to resolve complex challenges with students and colleagues across the university, ensuring students are informed and empowered to make appropriate decisions.
