Are you a natural negotiator with a passion for driving value, quality, and efficiency? We're looking for a proactive Buyer to join our Procurement team and play a key role in ensuring our business runs smoothly by securing the right goods and services at the right time, cost, and quality.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Buyer, you'll work closely with colleagues across all departments, as well as with external suppliers, to manage the purchasing process from start to finish. You'll take ownership of sourcing, negotiating, and building strong supplier relationships, while identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
This is a fantastic opportunity to become the department champion for ERP systems (Syteline), support engineering projects, and ensure the seamless supply of materials critical to our operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the buying process to achieve cost, quality, and delivery targets
Lead purchasing activities for interiors commodities, ensuring on-time, within-budget supply
Act as the team's ERP/Syteline champion – training and advising colleagues across the business
Negotiate contracts and secure favourable terms with suppliers
Maintain continuity of supply and proactively resolve potential disruptions
Prepare purchase orders in line with negotiations and company standards
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, ensuring compliance and performance improvement
Identify cost-reduction and value-add opportunities through procurement best practice
Provide project support, deliver shortage reports, and manage schedule changes
Collaborate with Finance and Engineering to resolve any pricing, quality, or delivery issues
ABOUT YOU
We're looking for someone with strong purchasing experience, ideally within the automotive or manufacturing industry, who thrives under pressure and enjoys problem-solving.
Qualifications & Experience:
CIPS Level 4 (or working towards)
Proven experience in procurement/purchasing
Knowledge of automotive processes, supply chain management, or contract management (desirable)
Experience with MRP/ERP systems (advantageous)
Skills & Attributes:
A confident negotiator with a persuasive 'can do' attitude
Strong communication skills to engage suppliers and challenge stakeholders effectively
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent problem-solving and organisational skills
Capable of delivering under pressure and prioritising effectively
Ability to read drawings and review CAD (desirable but not essential)
