Job Description

New Directions Education is currently recruiting Teaching Assistants to support Key Stage 2 classes across a range of primary schools in Ellesmere Port.

These roles include a mix of long-term, short-term and ad hoc opportunities, offering flexibility alongside valuable classroom experience.

The role may involve:

1. Supporting pupils within KS2 classes
2. Working with small groups or on a 1:1 basis
3. Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management
4. Supporting pupils with additional learning or SEN needs where required
5. Helping to create a positive, inclusive learning environment

We’re looking for candidates who:

6. Have experience working with children (school-based experience preferred)
7. Are confident supporting KS2 pupils
8. Are patient, reliable and enthusiastic
9. Have a genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development

Job Specification

Teaching, Learning or Classroom Assistants are now vital resources for teachers and are heavily relied upon in schools.

We specialise in recruiting Teaching Assistants (TA) who are qualified in the following;

10. NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant
11. NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant
12. Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
13. CACHE Level 3 in Childcare & Education
14. BTEC National Certificate in Childhood Studies (Nursery Nursing).

We’ll also consider experienced Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) who have previously held a job in a primary school or assisted a pupil in the role in a secondary school but do not hold any of the above qualifications.

Jobs in additional learning needs (ALN)

A large number of our jobs are in ALN and we fill many vacancies in schools with candidates who have particular experience in working with children classified as having:

15. Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
16. Dyslexia
17. Dyspraxia
18. Multi-Sensory Impairment (MSI)
19. Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
20. Profound and Moderate Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
21. Emotional Behavioural Difficulties (EBD)
22. Severe Learning Difficulties
23. Physical Disabilities (PD).

As a teaching assistant you’ll be expected to:

24. Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, ALNCO and class teachers
25. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes (IEP) for students and help monitor their progress
26. Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
27. Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
28. Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
