With a strong reputation for excellence and a dynamic, project-driven environment, they are seeking a meticulous and experienced Senior Payroll Administrator to join their dedicated finance team in Canary Wharf. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to a thriving business that values precision, compliance, and the well-being of its diverse workforce.

The Role: Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Payroll Administrator, you will be integral to ensuring the accurate and timely payment of our client's diverse employee base, encompassing both their corporate office staff and site-based project teams. Your key responsibilities will include:

* Comprehensive Payroll Processing: Managing the full end-to-end monthly payroll cycle for UK employees, accurately processing salaries, expenses, benefits, bonuses, and statutory payments (PAYE, NI, SSP, SMP, etc.) for both office and project-based staff.
* Complex Payroll Management: Navigating and processing varied work patterns, overtime, and allowances common within the construction industry, ensuring all calculations are precise and compliant.
* Statutory Compliance & Reporting: Ensuring strict adherence to all UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements, including timely RTI submissions, year-end reporting (P60s, P11Ds, PSA), and accurate reconciliations.
* Benefits & Pensions Administration: Overseeing the administration of all company benefits, including auto-enrolment pensions, private medical schemes, and other employee deductions specific to the industry.
* Query Resolution & Support: Acting as the primary point of contact for all payroll-related enquiries from employees and management, providing clear, confidential, and expert advice.
* System & Process Enhancement: Maintaining accurate payroll records within the HRIS/payroll system, identifying opportunities for process improvements, and contributing to the continuous enhancement of payroll operations.
* Audit & Reconciliation: Conducting regular payroll reconciliations against general ledger accounts and assisting with internal and external audits.

About You: Skills & Experience

Our client is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented payroll professional with a proven track record in a fast-paced environment, ideally within the construction or related project-based industries. You will possess:

* Extensive Payroll Expertise (5+ years): Significant hands-on experience in a dedicated Senior Payroll Administrator or Payroll Specialist role within the UK.
* Construction Sector Acumen (Desirable): Previous experience within the construction, engineering, or a project-based industry, with an understanding of associated payroll complexities (e.g., varying hours, site allowances, or an awareness of CIS interactions for employee payroll).
* In-depth UK Payroll Knowledge: Comprehensive and current understanding of all UK payroll legislation, HMRC regulations, and statutory payments.
* System Proficiency: Advanced user experience with major payroll software platforms (e.g., ADP, Workday, SAP, Sage, Oracle) and exceptional proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables).
* Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: A meticulous approach to data, strong numerical accuracy, and the ability to proactively identify and resolve payroll discrepancies.
* Communication & Confidentiality: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
* Organisational Excellence: Highly organised, capable of managing multiple priorities, adhering to strict deadlines, and thriving in a dynamic work environment.
* Professional Qualification (Advantageous): A relevant payroll qualification (e.g., CIPP Payroll Technician Certificate) is highly regarded.

What's On Offer:

* A highly competitive salary of up to £70,000, reflecting the seniority and importance of the role.
* A comprehensive benefits package, including a robust pension scheme and health provisions.
* The opportunity to work for a leading name in the construction sector, based in a modern office in Canary Wharf, London.
* A stimulating work environment with opportunities for professional growth and to contribute significantly to the finance function.
* A collaborative and supportive team culture.
