Required to fill this new post you will join a team of 6 Chest and 3 Head & Neck Radiologist (some with shared responsibilities) within the Radiology and MIS CSU with an 80+ consultant workforce. The post holder’s skills in thoracic and head & neck radiology and a range of image‑guided interventions will complement and support the current demand on the service to deliver care to patients with thoracic and head & neck radiology needs at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Achieving the best clinical outcomes with the resources available, supervision and care of patients, working with other staff and teams to ensure that waiting times are met, and contributing to specialist multi‑disciplinary team meetings.
To contribute to research, teaching, and new developments within thoracic and head & neck radiology. We anticipate a significant impact of the roll‑out of lung screening in 2026 and setting up a one‑stop neck lump clinic; the post holder will be part of the core team supporting these services. The post holder will be encouraged to facilitate and contribute to the current clinical research programmes on‑going in the department and will be supported in developing further interests. Research and education are priorities for the Trust and any new radiology consultant appointed will have the opportunity to explore further educational and research possibilities when in post if they wish.

Main Duties
The post holder will be involved in supporting the Community Diagnostic Hub and the roll‑out of AI in radiology, particularly chest. We require a range of diagnostic and interventional skills to complement those of the existing staff, in a post working across sites at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and the proposed community diagnostic hub. The post holder will be based primarily at Leeds General Infirmary and will maintain a cross‑site presence essential for delivering several aspects of this post. The post holder will link with consultant colleagues in other relevant site specialist teams within the Radiology CSU and across the Trust.
Applicants should have established skills in thoracic and head & neck radiology and its related specialties, including a range of image‑guided interventions in both subspecialties. A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.
Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job‑share.

Responsibilities
 * Provide robust capacity within the chest and head & neck radiology teams.
 * Deliver core diagnostic and specialist interventional services.
 * Support the roll‑out of lung screening and the development of a one‑stop neck lump clinic.
 * Collaborate with cancer MDTs (lung, head & neck, thyroid & parathyroid) and benign chest meetings.
 * Contribute to training and teaching within the department.
 * Participate in the diagnostic on‑call rota group and provide flexible cross‑cover for acute CT services.
Qualifications – Essential
 * FRCR or equivalent qualification.
 * Full GMC registration with a license to practice; GMC number must be clearly stated in the application.
 * Eligibility to work in the UK.
 * Up to date and fit to practise safely.
Qualifications – Desirable
 * Relevant higher degree.
Experience – Essential
 * High level of clinical experience and competence in chest and head & neck radiology.
 * Appropriate skill set for US & CT‑guided procedures in both subspecialties.
 * Evidence of continuous career progression.

 * GMC specialist register via CCT (date within 6 months of interview) or portfolio pathway; international applicants must comply with GMC specialty registration.
Training, Research, Teaching & Audit – Essential
 * Completed recognised training programme in clinical radiology.
 * Evidence of ability to carry out medical research.
 * Experience training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
 * Participation and presentation in regular clinical audit.
