Salary: £111,430 - £148,064 per annum.

Applications are sought for a Consultant General Surgeon to work in our unique, busy Rural General Hospital in Oban. The hospital is located on the West Coast of Scotland, within driving distance of central belt centres and Glasgow international airport.
Philosophy: "Generalism is our Specialism". We are open to any subspecialty interest provided you are Emergency General Surgery trained. We support other training or experience you may require to make this a truly unique opportunity.
This role is about building a future-ready rural surgical service, not merely maintaining it. We welcome you to consider joining the Lorn and Islands Rural General Hospital in Oban as a Consultant Surgeon.
Role details: The job is advertised on a 10 PA (plus 2 EPAs) basis. Applications for part-time or flexible working will be considered.
Within this role we can offer a Global Citizens contract for a period of 3 years. The post can offer 10 weeks (paid) each year dedicated to contributing to global health work either in a partner country or in Scotland to support global health activity with partners. Work could include online teaching, engagement with global and national policymakers, or strengthening/evaluating services. You will have the support of the Global Health Academy in Edinburgh to identify projects, assist with travel and visa arrangements, and join overseas projects. Example programme countries include Malawi, Zambia and Rwanda. (This excludes annual leave and study leave – which could be added to this time.)
