Job Description
We're looking for a Production Supervisor to join our on-site solution in Litchfield. This role is a great opportunity to advance your career into management. It involves hands-on operational work with scheduled time to develop management skills, including health & safety, quality, and leadership. The shift pattern is 4 days on, 4 days off, day shifts.
Salary ranges from £28,000 to £31,000 plus a 20% shift allowance.
CHEP manages a large pallet pool rented to customers, and our operations focus on repairing and maintaining these pallets. The primary responsibility of this role is to lead a shift of 10-15 staff, promoting continuous improvement, safety, and quality metrics, while providing leadership to your team. You will also foster good relations with third-party management teams on site.
Key responsibilities:
* Supervise, develop, and coach employees while maintaining good relationships with third-party management teams.
* Drive continuous improvement through systemic change based on data and root cause analysis (e.g., data analysis and improvement/correction plans).
* Own and control all quality-related issues on your shift/site.
* Promote a zero-harm culture within your shift.
* Conduct tours using the 1-CHEP Management Observation Tool (MOT).
* Lead root cause analysis of incidents on shift.
* Share knowledge across business areas and adapt to new situations.
* Manage yard and warehouse movements, delegating tasks to FLT drivers considering warehouse needs.
* Hold daily shift briefs and report on plant KPIs.
* Monitor and respond to safety and production KPIs promptly and consistently.
* Own safety, quality, and production controls.
* Assist in monitoring employee holidays in accordance with company policies.
* Manage and monitor absence levels following company procedures.
* Deputise for the Site Lead when absent.
What you'll need:
* Experience in lean-based or continuous improvement operational roles is advantageous.
* At least 3 years in a production, manufacturing, or logistics environment.
* Experience in a quality-focused environment and familiarity with quality standards.
* Ability to work successfully within a matrix structure.
* Strong numerical and verbal skills.
* Highly organized, proactive, self-motivated, and persistent.
* Good coaching, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Knowledge of quality principles.
* Experience with MS Office.
* Leadership, project management, and change management capabilities.
