We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing regional contractor operating within housing maintenance, facilities management and construction. Due to business growth and a recent vacancy, they are looking to appoint an experienced Bid Writer to join their Business Development team.
This Bid Writer role is a varied and hands-on role, offering the opportunity to work across construction bids ranging from £250k to £6m, supporting both building maintenance and project delivery divisions. While the focus is bid writing, there will also be an element of bid coordination and tender management.
Key Responsibilities Bid Writing & Coordination
Write high-quality qualitative responses for bids and tenders, working closely with delivery, estimating and operational teams for technical input.
Manage and update the bid content library, ensuring all information is current and compliant.
Collate and prepare selection questionnaires (SQs) and tender submissions to meet strict client deadlines.
Coordinate bid activity to ensure timely, accurate and compliant submissions.Tender Administration
Maintain bid schedules, trackers and databases.
Set up tender folders and manage bid documentation.
Monitor bid and enquiry inboxes, tracking new opportunities.
Arrange and support bid meetings, producing agendas, recording actions and circulating decisions.
Provide wider business support where required, including accreditations and document preparation.Marketing & Communications
Maintain internal staff communication channels, working with departments to share updates.
Manage and update the company website, social media content, case studies and news items.
Assist with marketing materials including client newsletters and ad-hoc communications.
Ensure all branded documentation meets company standards and is error-free.Skills & Attributes Required

An eye for visual design would be highly desirable.Experience & Qualifications We'd Love To See:
GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths.
Degree in English, Marketing or a related discipline OR 2–5 years’ relevant experience in a similar role.
Experience or knowledge of bid writing/management, ideally within construction, housing maintenance or facilities management, particularly public-sector contracts.
Experience using Content Management Systems (e.g. Drupal) and/or design software such as InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop is highly desirable.
Strong IT skills, including MS Office.Location: Portsmouth
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000
Working Pattern: Office-based preferred (5 days), with some flexibility for remote working
