About AB's Risk Management Department
AB operates a "Three Lines" model where Risk Management is an independent function in the "second line". The department has dedicated teams for operational risk and investment risk, as well as specialist risk directors for liquidity, counterparty and credit risk. The risk department is led by AB's Chief Risk Officer (CRO) who is a direct report of AB's Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The operational risk team is also supported by first-line Risk Managers who operate as Risk Officers in AB's business units. Together, the Risk Officers, specialist risk directors, investment and operational risk teams form AB's Risk Management department.
Role Summary
The Senior Risk Manager sits in the second line risk team in EMEA and is responsible for the delivery of ABL's Financial Resilience framework, including the application of MIFIDPRU 7&8 in the UK, and the supporting processes such as scenario workshops, operational risk scenario modelling, orderly wind-down planning and public market disclosures, in conjunction with UK Finance. In addition, the Senior Risk Manager is responsible for the delivery of ABL's Operational risk framework and the maintenance of the relevant KPIs and dashboards. The Senior Risk Manager co-Chairs ABL's Risk Committee and is a member of multiple local governance and oversight bodies. The Senior Risk Manager owns the ABL Risk Dashboard and supports the EMEA risk team with the EMEA Risk Dashboard.
The role offers regional and global exposure through the participation in AB's regional Operational Risk forums and membership of AB's global Operational Risk Committee. The role offers the possibility to step into an SMF4 role upon achieving key milestones.
Role Responsibilities
* Own the ABL operational risk management framework including:
* Ownership of the methodology and delivery of the dashboard for business units, legal entities and branches in the region.
* Development of key risk indicators and risk appetite statements to support the UK Board's identification and oversight of risks.
* Leading the Operational Business Forums and maintaining the risk scorecards.
* Oversight of the delivery of risk reporting to the UK risk committee and management body, and other ABL branches.
* Responsible for delivery of the annual Internal Capital Adequacy and Risk Assessment (ICARA) at least annually, in conjunction with Finance, for the UK; and as required for other entities, as delegated by the EMEA Head of Risk.
* Support the risk related aspects of the AB EMEA financial resilience assessment framework, including scenario libraries and operational risk scenario modelling.
* Support the delivery of the AB EMEA operational resilience assessment framework.
* Monitor the Investment and Liquidity risk KPIs for ABL accounts and ensure escalation to the EMEA Head of Risk and local and regional governance forums.
* Support AB Leadership and peers in Legal and Compliance in ensuring risks are identified and well-managed across the UK business.
* Support AB Client Group in the delivery of responses to RFP and DDQ request, meeting with clients as needed.
* Ensure policy and procedure documentation for the relevant areas of responsibility are kept up to date and approved by the relevant committee/management body where required.
* Manage and develop junior team members.
* Attend industry forums and events to stay current on industry best practise, sharing that information with AB's global risk functions.
