Job Description
Think Recruitment is currently working with a busy consultancy that is looking to recruit a Structural Engineer at Senior or Principal level. Working with a talented team of Chartered, mid-level, and graduate engineers, our client's Structures Division is seeking a highly motivated Engineer to support the Structures Team in their Nottingham Office.
The successful candidate will have sound experience in a wide variety of Structural Engineering projects and have worked on complex and challenging structural designs from conception to completion. The role involves working on a broad range of structural projects, including bespoke new build structures, refurbishment, and heritage works.
To be considered for this role, you will ideally have:
1. Minimum 2:1 BSc/BEng in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent
2. At least 5 years post-qualification experience in civil and structural engineering
3. Full UK driving license and own transport
4. Chartered or near-chartered status with a relevant body (MICE or MIStructE)
5. Experience in surveying and refurbishment
6. Good structural forensic and analytical skills
7. Experience in masonry, timber, steel, and concrete design
8. Detailed knowledge of structural design and detailing using all relevant UK and European codes of practice
On a day-to-day basis, in this role, you will be responsible for:
1. Producing preliminary design solutions and reviewing them with clients as part of the design strategy
2. Producing detailed designs, calculations, and specifications, and conducting technical reviews
3. Attending design, project progress, and client engagement meetings
4. Liaising with contractors, clients, third-party organizations, and stakeholders, answering queries related to technical detailing
5. Designing in all forms of construction including steelwork, reinforced/precast concrete, masonry, and timber
6. Conducting structural appraisals of commercial, industrial, and residential structures
7. Managing project costs and schedules
8. Managing sustainability criteria
9. Complying with designers' duties under the CDM Regulations
10. Producing sketches, drawings, and structural appraisal reports
