The successful candidate will lead and manage a team of experienced, specialist mental health social care workers, delivering high-quality, strength-based provisions. The role involves working with older people experiencing mental health difficulties, their families, and carers, with the aim of maintaining and enhancing their quality of life, wellbeing, independence, autonomy, and dignity.
We welcome applications from social work professionals with an AMHP qualification, which would attract an additional salary enhancement of 11.8%. There is an expectation of a minimum commitment of two duties per month to the Torbay and South Devon AMHP Rota.

Main duties of the job
1. Manage staff, resources, and relationships with key agencies to ensure timely and effective assessments, support planning, and care management.
2. Work collaboratively with all agencies to deliver high-quality, strength-based services to individuals experiencing mental health issues, along with their families and carers.
3. Provide mental health expertise and social work knowledge to oversee complex caseloads.
4. Ensure cost-effective and beneficial care packages are established, delivered, and monitored, complying with statutory requirements and organizational policies.
5. Ensure teams understand and apply relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
6. Develop and maintain effective working relationships.
7. Meet performance expectations and deliver services that uphold quality standards and promote patient independence and wellbeing.

The Older People's Mental Health Team (Adult Social Care) is a multidisciplinary, baywide service colocated with health services. The team has an excellent reputation for promoting strength-based, creative approaches to working with older adults with complex mental health needs.

Job responsibilities
* Communicate effectively with service users, including those with complex emotional and psychological conditions, communication difficulties, or disabilities.
* Contribute to service development within the Trust, attending working groups, and representing social care on inter-agency and multi-disciplinary groups.
* Monitor and improve team practice performance using management information, audits, and feedback.
* Lead liaison efforts across agencies to resolve complex dilemmas and practice issues.
* Lead service improvement initiatives aligned with strategic directions.
* Implement and uphold the Trust's customer service standards and respond appropriately to feedback and complaints.
* Foster a culture of professional curiosity and ensure team practice complies with current standards and legislation.
* Maintain accurate case records, supervise documentation, and ensure timely updates in data management systems.
* Advocate for service users, ensuring they are treated with respect, consulted, and their wellbeing is prioritized.
* Work closely with families and carers to promote recovery and support mental health.
* Act in the best interests of vulnerable service users under the Mental Capacity Act.
