Job overview

Are you a motivated and innovative nurse with experience of working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, or within the field of Pulmonary Hypertension? We are looking for a knowledgeable nurse who can bring their valuable experience with them to join a dedicated team of clinical nurse specialists. This is a position requiring excellent specialist clinical skills, as well as the leadership and management skills to lead a dedicated team of nurse specialists and support staff.The Pulmonary Hypertension Team at GOSH is a multidisciplinary Service specializing in the diagnosis, evaluation and management and care of children 0- 16yrs with Pulmonary Hypertension. As a national service, we look after children across the whole of the UK with 8 outreach clinic locations, alongside weekly clinics at GOSH. You will have expert knowledge and skills on this rare conditionand will be responsible for empowering other members of the health care team both internal and external. You will provide teaching to families, schools, and other members of the MDT to support the patient and their journey.
You will work within a wider team, composed of cardiologists, specialist nurses, cardiac technicians, clinical psychologists, geneticists and administrative staff. You will be expected to have excellent skills to support the whole family throughout the process of screening, diagnosis and on-going care. We will support your clinical development and will provide a tailored educational pathway.


Main duties of the job

* You will have the ability to develop and improve service delivery by driving and implementing change.
* They will work in collaboration with the team’s other Clinical Nurse Specialists to ensure that the team delivers an excellent standard of evidence-based care, providing expert support to patients and families affected by pulmonary hypertension
* To manage a designated case load of patients with PH and the associated responsibilities
* To work within the Trust’s Generic Policies and Procedures and the parameters set down in agreed local clinical protocols and guidelines, national standards, and guidelines e.g. those published by NICE and NHS England’s PH review
* To deliver care by following clinical protocols, standards, pathways, and bundles of care at a local and National level and to innovate care using the latest evidence where these are lacking.
* To participate in local, national, and international benchmarking
* To act as a resource, providing clinical leadership and facilitating professional development amongst the multidisciplinary team
* To act as a role model to members of the multiprofessional team demonstrating excellence in cardiac nursing care, providing expert knowledge and skills whilst empowering other members of the health care team
* To work closely with the Clinical Leaders and Practice Educators to provide dynamic and strong education to the clinical unit and out into the network to meet the current care delivery needs, across all staff levels.

* NMC Registered Nurse (Child) or RN Adult with significant relevant experience in specialty (cardiology)

Experience/Knowledge

* Demonstrable knowledge of specialist Pulmonary Hypertension
