Islington Mental Health Accommodation Pathway provides support to people living with various mental health conditions and complex needs. The service includes a supported accommodation service and medium-low supported accommodation services across Islington. Enhanced Support Workers will work across these services.
Working with individuals with complex needs, who may display challenging behaviors, testing boundaries, and having experienced trauma from abuse, neglect, homelessness, or long stays in mental health hospitals, requires motivation to support individuals to progress. Postholders should hold aspirations for individuals despite setbacks, demonstrate emotional resilience, and remain motivated to deliver support.
Enhanced Support Workers within Look Ahead are required to have either additional experience or higher qualifications relevant to the post.
You will provide information, social inclusion, and vocational opportunities to support recovery and well-being; enable choice and control in care; and promote participation in the community. Support aims to develop self-advocacy, self-management, and empowerment, based on recovery principles, co-production, and peer support. Postholders will deliver trauma-informed and asset-based support to a caseload of - service users.
The role involves flexible working to meet emerging needs, including bank holidays, weekends, and public holidays.
This role requires a valid Right to Work in the UK; Look Ahead does not sponsor visas.
What you’ll do:

* Build supportive, trusting relationships with customers and partners.
* Conduct holistic assessments of new customers.
* Lead engaging key work sessions to achieve support plan goals.
* Key work with complex service users.
* Create risk management and support plans to enable recovery.
* Assess and manage risks positively.
* Support recovery and self-management, including medication management.
* Partner with external stakeholders.
* Upskill team members.
* Develop relationships with partner organizations.
* Support team functioning and safety.
* Involve customers in service development.
* Follow lone working and health & safety protocols.
* Ensure safety policies are followed.
* Manage shift handovers.
* Provide guidance to colleagues.
* Lead groups and activities.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
* Maintain safety and data records.
* Attend meetings and training.
About you:
A strong leader with excellent interpersonal skills, socially adept, well connected, approachable, assertive, and independent-minded. You should challenge others, resolve conflicts, drive change, and be adaptable. Confidence, emotional resilience, respectfulness, and enthusiasm are key. You should be motivated for excellence, customer-focused, and IT literate. Applications from individuals with lived experience are encouraged.
What you’ll bring:
Up to NVQ Level or equivalent in a relevant area (psychology, Health and Social Care, Mental Health) or experience in social care/charity sector. Experience in recovery-focused support for trauma, mental health, substance use, and dual diagnosis. IT literacy.
