Civils/Construction Project Manager Location: Cardiff Type: Full-time Due to continued growth and the award of several exciting new projects, our client is seeking an experienced Civils/Construction Project Manager to support the tendering and delivery of upcoming marine and coastal civil engineering works. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional with strong civil engineering experience to play a key role in both pre-construction and project delivery, working across a diverse and technically challenging portfolio. The Role You will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle, from early tender development through to successful on-site delivery. The role offers a strong balance of technical, commercial and client-facing responsibilities. You will be hands-on within a small team, with responsibility for a variety of tasks and different projects at different stages of their life cycle. Contracts vary from £50,000-£500,000 in general but on occasion will be £1m Key responsibilities include: Pre-Construction & Tendering * Preparing tenders in collaboration with the wider bid team, Project Managers, Commercial Director and other key stakeholders * Developing innovative technical solutions as part of tender submissions * Undertaking detailed pricing and risk reviews * Attending pre-tender site visits and client meetings * Producing pre-construction documentation, including compliance with CDM Regulations 2015 Project Planning & Delivery * Preparing detailed construction programmes in line with contractual requirements (Microsoft Project experience desirable) * Identifying risks, opportunities and resource requirements * Acting as a client-facing Project Manager during delivery * Attending progress, technical and commercial meetings * Maintaining a strong site presence, ensuring quality standards are met and quality records are maintained Commercial & Contractual Management * Producing cost monitoring reports and forecasting projected outturn costs * Preparing and submitting valuations in a timely manner * Managing projects to meet commercial and contractual obligations * Identifying and managing change, Early Warnings and Compensation Events * Working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts is desirable Health, Safety & Compliance * Demonstrating visible safety leadership throughout the project lifecycle * Ensuring compliance with all company safety policies and legal requirements * Applying a working knowledge of CDM Regulations * Supporting site audits and working with the Compliance team to evidence best practice About You You will ideally have: * Proven experience delivering civil engineering projects, experience in a marine environment beneficial but not essential * Good understanding of the unique challenges associated with marine works * Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills * A proactive and solutions-focused approach If you are an ambitious Site Engineer who has had exposure to some or all the above, then our client would be interested in your application as a Trainee Project Manager.
