Senior Care Assistant - Nights

A well‑established residential care provider is currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Senior Care Assistant (Nights) to join their night team. This is a vital role within a residential care setting, supporting residents with high‑quality, person‑centred care while providing leadership and guidance to the night staff team.
The successful candidate will have previous medication administration experience, which is essential for this role.
Hours: 33 hours per week (night shifts)
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver high‑quality, person‑centred care in line with individual care plans
2. Assist residents with daily living activities including personal care, mobility, dressing, bathing, and nutrition
3. Safely administer and accurately record medications in accordance with policies and best practice (essential)
4. Act as the senior member of staff on night shifts, providing leadership and support to the care team
5. Mentor and support junior staff, promoting best practice and a professional working environment
6. Complete care documentation clearly, accurately, and in a timely manner
7. Maintain a safe, calm, and respectful environment for residents and staff
8. Ensure compliance with safeguarding, infection control, health & safety, and regulatory requirements
9. Respond appropriately to incidents, emergencies, or changes in residents' conditions
10. Promote dignity, respect, choice, and independence at all times
Essential Criteria
⚠️ Medication experience is mandatory
11. Proven experience administering medication within a care setting
12. Experience working in elderly or residential care
13. Ability to work night shifts on a rota basis
14. Strong leadership and supervisory skills
15. Excellent understanding of safeguarding and infection control
16. Compassionate and empathetic approach to care
17. Strong communication skills with residents, families, and colleagues
18. Ability to work under pressure and use own initiative
19. High standards of professionalism and attention to detail
Desirable Criteria
20. Level 3 NVQ in Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
21. Level 2 NVQ with willingness to work towards Level 3
22. Additional training such as Medication Management, Manual Handling, or First Aid
23. Previous experience supervising or leading a care team
