Teaching Assistant in Barry Needed for September Start!
A supportive and inclusive primary school in Barry is looking to appoint a compassionate and committed Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026. This rewarding full-time role will involve supporting pupils across the classroom, with a particular focus on working closely with children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
The successful candidate will work alongside the class teacher and ALNCo to provide tailored support to pupils who may require additional assistance with communication, emotional regulation, social interaction, and classroom engagement. You may support children with a range of needs including autism spectrum condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, sensory needs, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
The role will involve building strong and positive relationships with pupils to help them feel safe, supported, and confident within the school environment. You will provide both 1:1 and small group support, adapting activities where needed and helping pupils access learning in a way that suits their individual needs and abilities. Patience, empathy, consistency, and a calm approach are essential qualities for this position.
The school is seeking someone who is passionate about making a genuine difference to children’s educational experiences and emotional wellbeing. Previous experience working with children with ALN is highly desirable, although candidates with backgrounds in care, support work, youth work, or coaching who possess transferable skills are also encouraged to apply.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
