Primarily in Transportation, but also in Mining, and Motorsport. Our products have grown from Formula One technology to provide connectivity services and vehicle data analytics to a range of B2B customers. The team develop and maintain products and features running on embedded Linux platforms and cloud-based services, including IoT platforms. Utilising modern programming languages and dev/ops approaches. Multiple disciplines exist within the team including Embedded and Cloud SW development, Data Scientists, Simulation Engineers, SW testing, SREs, technical support, engineering management and product management. The team has skills and experience to support entry into new markets and is expected to grow and adapt as new customers and industries are added. We develop hardware and software products, but this role will focus on the communications software, analytics, and front-end applications. Working as part of our product and programme management team, providing the day to day interface and leadership to the engineering teams. The role Product Owners at McLaren Applied work as product innovators in industry to deliver cutting-edge solutions to real-world problems. At McLaren Applied, product owners are results-driven and passionate about problem-solving. They are senior contributors to our team and help us to create value for our customers by leading innovation. Your expertise will help us to derive feasibility, formulate and scope complex problems, then enable the technical teams to deliver. The role suits candidates that are comfortable exploring new areas and pioneering new ways of solving problems. The candidate would be embedded in the engineering teams to own the low-level requirements definition, story writing, and completion criteria. Primarily working on our Software applications used for connectivity and analytics used in transportation and motorsport markets. Reporting to the head of product and programmes. We'd love to hear from you if you have : Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other highly quantitative field (or equivalent experience). A strong background in requirements capture and management processes. Excellent understanding of Software Development Life Cycle and Agile methodology. Experience meeting software development and cybersecurity standards beneficial. Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent technical knowledge. Able to quickly build rapport with peers and stakeholders. Able to tactfully challenge without alienating. Experience writing requirements and user stories for software development teams. Strong analytical and numerical skills. Demonstrable experience of team leadership. Desirable: Experience working on product areas relating to IoT product development: cloud and edge software. A proven track-record in scoping and delivering technology solutions in a business environment. At least 2 years as a product owner. Experience in a fast growing scale-up company. Good understanding of Continuous Delivery (e.g. CI/CD). Good understanding of testing practices. Ability to speak additional European languages. The work environment This role is based at our head office at Victoria Gate, Woking. The role is included in our hybrid working policy with the expectation of a minimum of three days a week in the office, which should be co-ordinated with other members of the Engineering team. There may be occasional travel to customer locations.
