We’re looking for a hands‑on, technically curious Technician/Engineer who wants to work on projects that push the boundaries of what’s possible — from vacuum‑based R&D to technologies destined for space missions.
You’ll be working with cutting‑edge technologies designed for both Earth‑based applications and the extreme conditions of space, giving you exposure to engineering challenges that very few roles can offer. Instead of repetitive testing, you’ll be deeply involved in meaningful scientific and technical investigations — the kind that demand insight, creativity and hands‑on problem‑solving. Every project gives you the chance to follow the full journey from initial concept right through to final delivery, so you get to see the real impact of your work.
Along the way, you’ll develop rare specialist skills in tribology, vacuum systems and precision testing, supported by experienced colleagues in a modern, well‑equipped facility. As part of an international, highly knowledgeable team, you’ll have the chance to grow, learn and carve out a long‑term career in a niche area of engineering that few people ever get to experience — making your expertise both in‑demand and truly unique.
Responsibilities:
Setting up and running specialist test programmes
Working in a cleanroom or laboratory environment
Preparing equipment, instrumentation, sensors and control systems
Analysing results and turning them into clear, insightful reports
Supporting R&D for world‑class engineering and space projects
Occasionally visiting clients, suppliers, or project partners across the UK or internationally
Learning from seasoned experts and developing rare technical skills
Experience/Skills:
HNC/HND/Degree educated in a relevant engineering discipline
2+ years experience ideally within a test technician/engineering role but failing that Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Experience in real engineering environments.
Enjoy getting hands-on with equipment, instrumentation, assemblies and test rigs.
Excellent problem solving skills
If you love problem‑solving, enjoy working in a lab or cleanroom, and want variety in your day‑to‑day work, this opportunity could be the right move for you. Please apply for immediate consideration
