DEPARTMENT: BBC Nations, Business Operations NI
LOCATION: Belfast
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £35,033 - £38,301 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Join BBC NI Business Operations team to shape content that inspires. As an Audio Supervisor you’ll play a key role in delivering the best sound mix possible with available resources - to local, UK and global audiences.


WHY JOIN THE TEAM
You will be a member of the Belfast Audio Unit - a small team with experience in covering sound for radio and television programmes from Politics to Proms, Awards to Athletics – and everything in between. Every day is different (it’s definitely not nine to five), with a range of customers including BBC and independent production companies. You will be involved in history making events during your career.


YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

* Responsible for the sound balance and control of radio productions in studios.
* Responsible for the sound balance and control of radio outside broadcasts of an established format.
* Assist the Senior Audio Supervisor on TV and Radio programmes of a complex nature. This may include managing communication circuits between multi-sites; operation of sub mixing points; the frequency planning and operation of radio microphones on productions where multiple frequency radio microphone and radio in ear monitoring feeds are necessary.
* Survey radio outside broadcast sites in order to plan the technical requirements for straightforward outside broadcasts
* Record, edit and mix on various Digital Audio Workstation formats.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

* Excellent aural judgement and a proven ability to prioritise in demanding situations.
* Good operational knowledge of broadcast and professional sound equipment and recent developments in programme making methods.
* A knowledge of, and adherence to safe working practice.
* Be fully aware of established acquisition techniques and have the confidence to explore and introduce new methods where appropriate.


DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

* An understanding and basic knowledge of methods of radio visualisation.
