Recruiter: Natasha About this client/child: Sam, 6, lives with his mum, dad, and two cats. He loves bouncing on his trampoline, climbing trees, and playing with sand. He is interested in numbers and letters and enjoys jigsaw puzzles when he's in the mood. He also loves playgrounds, especially the swings and slides. He enjoys swimming and looks forward to trips to Costa for a biscuit and Zizzi for a pizza. He has been diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), Global Development Delay, and is non-verbal. He uses an iPad-based AAC communication device, which he has been learning to navigate and will need continued support to develop his skills further. Sam can feel overwhelmed when people are constantly in his space and talking, or when there is too much engagement in activities. At times, he experiences periods of dysregulation, during which he may bang his head against the wall as a way of expressing overstimulation. Providing a calm and structured environment helps him feel more at ease. Sam requires assistance with all aspects of his personal care, including toileting, bathing, dressing, brushing his teeth, and encouragement to eat. Overview of role: Sam and his family are looking for a dedicated SEN Nanny/Manny to support his ongoing learning and development. This is a great opportunity to build trust with Sam, starting by shadowing his parents. Sam requires close supervision, as he may attempt to climb fences or run off in parks. He also enjoys sensory feedback from smashing glasses/mugs, so these items must be kept out of reach. The role includes school pick-ups, outdoor play, and visits to SEN-friendly soft play during term time, with more activities like swimming and outings during holidays. The family seeks a long-term commitment for consistency in Sam’s development. In the future, the Nanny/Manny may also provide occasional proxy parenting and babysitting and join the family on an annual UK holiday. The family can offer a live in option, if candidates prefer. Who this job would suit: This role will suit someone with experience working with children, who is eager to develop their skills in supporting a child with special educational needs. The successful applicant will be calm, confident, and energetic, with a positive attitude towards engaging in activities like bouncing on a trampoline with Sam. Additionally, they should possess the skills to support Sam through periods of dysregulation in a compassionate and effective manner. What’s great about this job: Sam and his family will be a pleasure to work with. They are approachable and highly value teamwork, creating a supportive and fulfilling work environment. Additionally, training will be provided by Sam's speech therapist to assist in using his AAC device. Who is recruiting for this role? Snap Care will be carrying out all recruitment including shortlisting, recruiter interviews and arranging employer interviews.
