Broadcast Support Supervisor Job description: To work as a Broadcast Support Supervisor in the SIS Milton Keynes Broadcast Engineering department. Leading a team of Broadcast Support Engineers, the successful candidate will have overall responsibility for the SIS Engineering Support department, ensuring they are capable of supporting SIS broadcast services in a 247/365 environment. This role will involve occasional travel to other SIS offices (London and Manchester), as well as co located Data Centres, but is primarily a Milton Keynes based position. Reporting Lines and Key Responsibilities: The role reports to Head of Engineering and Distribution. The role has line management responsibility for six Broadcast Support Engineers. The role is predominantly Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, but will include occasional unsociable hours to cover vacant shifts and/or carry out maintenance. Key responsibilities: In line with the SIS Values, the main responsibilities of the Broadcast Support Supervisor are set out below. Inspiring Enthusiasm To manage a team of broadcast support engineers To actively promote health and safety regulations and policies within SIS, ensuring all documentation is up to date Have a passion for technological advancement, specifically video over IP technologies, and actively promote and encourage within the team Better Together To ensure the Head of Engineering/Production staff are kept up to date on any issues as appropriate To assist with in-house broadcast project and installation work Develop a harmonious effective working environment within the Broadcast Support department To assist in the training and mentoring of new staff To be fully conversant with the company Disaster Recovery procedures and its implementation Focused Innovation · Ensure that the best interests of SIS are upheld at all times · Identify new ideas and processes · Ensure regular preventative maintenance is carried out as necessary · Ensure system documentation is up to date · A passion for technology · Committed to continuous personal development · Maintain good working knowledge of industry best practice · To complete employee appraisals and assist with recruitment Skills and Experience: Essential: Ability to lead through example with strong Broadcast Engineering skills Electronic/Electrical or Broadcast Engineering background with a minimum academic standard to HNC/HND level of qualification, or equivalent An excellent knowledge of TV Engineering principles Good knowledge of video over IP protocols within a broadcast environment (SMPTE2110/NDI etc.) Ability and competence to evaluate technical problems using appropriate Broadcast test and measurement equipment Imaginative approach to problem solving Excellent IT skills Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and manage time and tasks Confident communicator with all levels of internal and external stakeholders Good Health & Safety awareness Self-motivated Team working and lone working skills Desirable: Managemetn/leadership experience CAD Skills
