An Integrated Planning Manager builds and maintains an integrated schedule for the entire project.
The Planning Manager:
• Prepare and maintain the Schedule Management Plan (SMP) on behalf of the PMO Manager / Project Manager
• Ensure a schedule tracking of all activities according to the anticipated progress review cycles (typically max. one month’s duration)
• Own the Project schedule
• Manage the schedule margin / float
• Ensure an active Project schedule and interface management (internally & externally) – PMO Manager co-ordinates if assigned
• Plan and schedule in accordance with the requirement of the contract and Project objectives, follow the processes, regulations and instructions as defined in the Project Management Plan
• Ensure the integration of all detailed plans of different work packages, including suppliers and partners, into one coherent schedule
• Set up and manage schedules (with those of subcontractors and suppliers integrated)
• Handle resource loading of schedule plans
• Identify and track critical paths
• Track progress versus planning
• Implement schedule changes, including the introduction of R&O mitigation activities, proposes changes in work flow to mitigate delays and risks as well as to implement opportunities
• Define milestones for tracking including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for milestone achievement
• Perform milestone tracking in terms of milestone achievement and shifts.
• Undertake 14pt schedule health checks each month and at baseline/rebaseline (DCMA)
• Capture and maintain project Key Interface Dependencies (KIDs) – need dates versus planned – where required
• Attend, support and report, when required, monthly project reviews (MPRs)
The WP Planner reports operationally to the WP Leader (under the co-ordination of the PMO Manager when required, large PMO), and is responsible in their perimeter to:
• Setup and management of integrated WP schedules (With those of subcontractors and suppliers integrated)
• Identify and track critical paths
• Track progress versus planning • Implement schedule changes, including the introduction of R&O mitigation activities, proposes changes in work flow to mitigate delays and risks as well as to implement opportunities Manage the schedule margin / float
• Manage the schedule margin / float
• Support the Risk Management: proposes changes in work flow to mitigate delays and risks as well as to implement opportunities
• Define Project milestones for tracking and support WP Leaders in the reporting
• Perform milestone tracking in terms of milestone achievement and shifts
• Ensure that in the frame of the respective perimeter the process of scheduling synchronization between WPs is well deployed and properly managed (directly by the WP Leaders) • Work in close coordination with other WP Planners and WP Leaders to ensure integration of WP Schedule at Programme/Project level and not only locally
• Work in close coordination with other WP Planners and WP Leaders to ensure optimization at Programme/Project level and not only locally
• Facilitate the Escalation Process to facilitate integration and ask for arbitration if needed.
