Substation Project Engineer – Transmission Sector
Location: Glasgow | Hybrid | Travel to Sites & Office
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 6 Months + Possible Extension
Rate: £750 per day (Inside IR35 via Umbrella)
Clearance: BPSS + Medical Questionnaire + Proof of Right to Work
Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer with a passion for high-voltage transmission projects?
We’re looking for a Substation Project Engineer to join a leading team delivering critical infrastructure projects across the UK. This is your chance to work on new build and asset replacement projects up to 400kV, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Develop outline scopes, site location plans, primary plant layouts, and Single Line Diagrams for major transmission projects.
* Review detailed designs from contractors and witness Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
* Apply Safety by Design principles to mitigate engineering and operational risks.
* Support site teams to ensure quality installations and network security.
* Evaluate tenders and manage specialist consultants for project success.
What We’re Looking For
Degree-qualified Electrical Engineer
3+ years’ experience as a Substation Project Engineer (up to 400kV)
Proven track record in high-voltage substation design, operation, and maintenance
Strong project management skills
Excellent understanding of health & safety regulations
Previous transmission sector experience is essential
