Cygnet Elowen Hospital is our new hospital for adults located in Derbyshire and exemplifies our commitment to excellence in health care. We are currently recruiting for a full time Maintenance Assistant to carry out a range of day-to-day maintenance tasks in order to ensure the hospital is maintained in a safe and efficient functional order. No specific qualifications are required; however applicants should have a general background of maintenance work, e.g., carpentry, plumbing, painting and decorating. Your Day-to-Day
* Undertake day-to-day maintenance and planned remedial works to keep building, plant, and services in working order, keeping records of call-outs and routine checks as directed.
* Carry out a range of tasks including basic joinery, plumbing, painting and general building work
* Ensure all equipment used is clean and well maintained.
* Comply with safe working practices and report faulty equipment and potential hazards
* Check the fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits, door retaining devices and fire emergency lights
* Test and record all portable appliances as specified in Group procedures
We are looking for people who have…
* Previous experience working within a team and on your own in a maintenance/building contractors role
* Experience repairing a range of equipment and materials, painting, decorating, plumbing, carpentry and basic wiring
* Preferably hold a City & Guilds qualification or equivalent in Carpentry or Plumbing
* A working knowledge of health and safety requirements and safe working practices
* A good practical knowledge in basic plumbing would be an advantage
