The Role
Stryker is looking for a talented senior financial accountant to join its UK finance team. This position is responsible for proactively collaborating across the European finance community to drive quality financial reporting and statutory reporting.
Our goal is to be a best-in-class function, comprised of ethical, talented and engaged people that supports our functions and customers. You will work with our local finance team and European finance centre of excellence to proactively lead on key accounting compliance activities, including month end, statutory financial statements, tax compliance and a variety of other interesting ad-hoc finance activities. You will also have opportunity to work with our commercial organisation supporting adhoc commercial projects outside of finance.
Key Activities and Accountabilities:
Networks and relationships
1. Build/ foster/ facilitate strong relationships across our European finance community to ensure robust core processes deliver seamless accounting with minimal manual intervention, and high efficiency.
2. Build and maintain a robust culture of process improvement – drive the understanding of the need for improvement and enthusiasm within the wider team
Financial Results and Reporting
3. Take the lead in driving quality financial reporting, accounting and tax compliance in the UK.
4. Key role in interacting with various senior stakeholders to deliver on our financial reporting and compliance obligations.
5. Review Income Statements and Balance Sheets to drive high quality of financial reporting across the UK entities
6. Review key balance sheet reconciliations and internal balance sheet reporting requirements
7. Lead statutory financial statements process across multiple entities. Collaborate with European finance centre, including review of financial statements and workings to ensure high quality financial statements are prepared and filed.
8. Lead local annual impairment assessment process.
9. Provide local technical accounting support as required, on topics such as revenue recognition and lease accounting.
10. Lead some aspects of UK revenue recognition.
11. Own relationships with our key internal and external accounting advisors and stakeholders
12. Leadership of internal and external audit processes, be a key point of escalation.
Tax compliance
13. Lead a variety of internal and external tax compliance activities
14. Own relationships with our key internal and external advisors and stakeholders
15. Drive high quality accurate external tax filings through comprehensive reviews and upskilling of internal teams. Including Annual returns, SAO, ERS, PSA, etc
16. Ensure high quality compliance with all internal tax reporting requirements
17. Manage all external R&D tax claim processes
Other
18. Lead annual UK statutory insurance process
19. Review and approval of intercompany recharges
20. Support UK procurement activities
21. Other miscellaneous finance activities, including ad-hoc finance/non finance projects
What you will need:
Qualifications and Experience
22. Professional accounting certification (i.e. ACCA, ICAEW)
23. At least 3 years post qualification experience in industry
24. Experience leading and delivering UK statutory accounts and tax compliance activities
25. Practical experience of using Microsoft Excel to an advanced level
