The overall purpose of the role is to direct, develop and manage the administration systems and staff of the Professional Standards Department, to ensure that all complaints and misconduct cases are properly recorded, investigated and resolved, in accordance with current Regulations (Police Conduct Regulations 2020, Police Reform Act 2002, Police Complaints and Misconduct Regulations, Home Office and IOPC Statutory Guidance). To severity assess and determine the mode of investigation for conduct matters referred into PSD performing the statutory role of the delegated appropriate authority. Excellent communication, negotiation, motivation, presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels within and outside the organisation, including regulatory bodies. The post holder will have the ability to work at a strategic level, contributing to force-wide initiatives and preparing high-quality documents and plans to support organisational priorities.
