Are you ready to make a significant impact in the world of Pet Nutrition? We are on the lookout for a highly experienced Data Scientist to join our dynamic Manufacturing D&A team. This project-based role is set to conclude on December 31, 2026, but don’t worry! As we approach this date, we’ll work together to explore other exciting opportunities within the Mars family of companies.
In this role, you will be a key player in driving our digital transformation objectives. You’ll collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to manage and deliver projects, identify strategic opportunities, and unlock the value hidden within our data assets.
Your Responsibilities
* Lead Data Science Projects: Plan and execute projects to optimize manufacturing processes across various regions and plants.
* Manage Multiple Projects: Juggle several initiatives simultaneously while maintaining high standards.
* Analyze Data: Use machine learning techniques, visualizations, and statistical analysis to derive insights from diverse data sets.
* Identify Inefficiencies: Proactively apply data science approaches to enhance manufacturing processes and productivity.
* Storytelling: Develop compelling narratives that highlight the drivers of process and plant performance.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Present findings to stakeholders, providing context and actionable insights.
* Collaboration: Work with internal and external teams to focus on pet-centric product and service recommendations.
* Mentorship: Inspire and coach less experienced data scientists through code reviews and training sessions.
* Best Practices: Ensure thorough documentation and application of best practices in analytics projects.
* Continuous Learning: Stay updated on new technologies and techniques relevant to our business challenges.
What We’re Looking For
* Education: Degree or equivalent in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. A Master’s or PhD is a plus!
* Experience: 10+ years as a Data Scientist, with 5+ years in delivering statistical analytics on large-scale consumer data sets.
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python and the classic Data Science stack (NumPy, pandas, PyTorch, scikit-learn). Familiarity with PySpark is desirable.
* Cloud Experience: Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure.
* SQL Knowledge: Good understanding of SQL in practice.
* Communication Skills: Excellent ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels in a global environment.
* Production-Level Code: 3+ years of experience writing production-level code, with a strong grasp of MLOps and best practices.
