A leading civil engineering contractor is seeking a dynamic and commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects, delivering high-quality commercial support from pre-construction through to final account.
Key Responsibilities Provide thorough and professional commercial management across assigned projects Ensure all contractual obligations are met, with a strong focus on health & safety, profitability, and client satisfaction Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with project timelines Negotiate subcontractor packages to achieve best value Monitor budgets, risks, and performance standards to ensure accurate forecasting and cost control Submit timely applications for payment and recover retentions in line with contract terms Identify and price variations proactively to maximize project returns Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams Support and mentor junior team members, promoting collaboration and continuous improvement
Skills & Experience Solid understanding of civil engineering contracts including NEC3/4, ECC, ICE, and JCT Proven experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within the civil engineering sector Strong financial and commercial acumen, including CVRs and cost/value reconciliation Knowledge of tendering and procurement processes Familiarity with QHSE legislation and compliance Excellent communication and negotiation skills Experience in marine civils or river defence projects is highly desirable and considered a strong advantage
Technical Proficiency Competent in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) Experience with cost management systems and collaborative project platforms
Qualifications & Training HNC or Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (preferred) Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is desirable Full UK driving licence required
