The Role
We’re looking for a trustworthy and proactive Housekeeperwho will take ownership of the day-to-day cleaning and facilities upkeep across the centre. You’ll play a key role in ensuring the building is clean, secure, and ready for the many families and professionals who use it every day.
This is a hands-on role that involves cleaning, opening/closing duties, light maintenance tasks, and some supervision of cleaning staff. You'll also act as a point of contact for any urgent maintenance or safety matters.
Key Responsibilities
* Open and lock up the centre each day, ensuring full site security.
* Complete daily cleaning of communal areas, toilets, kitchens, and office spaces to a high standard.
* Manage waste and keep outside areas clean and tidy.
* Move small furniture items and set up rooms for activities as required.
* Carry out basic grounds maintenance (e.g. sweeping, litter-picking).
* Help oversee cleaning staff and maintain cleaning standards.
* Respond to on-site emergencies or urgent issues.
* Support weekend lettings when needed (occasional).
* Work with the team on health & safety, fire safety, and first aid procedures.
* Liaise with external contractors and security if needed.
What We’re Looking For
We’re keen to hear from candidates who:
* Have previous cleaning or caretaking experience (preferably in a school or public building).
* Are reliable, responsible and take pride in their work.
* Can work independently and take initiative.
* Are physically fit and able to carry out manual tasks.
* Understand basic health and safety practices (COSHH, manual handling).
* Are flexible, professional, and have a positive attitude.
Essential Requirements
* Enhanced DBS check (can be arranged by us).
* Right to work in the UK.
* Two references, including one from your most recent employer.
* Good attendance and reliability record.
