Overview
We are recruiting for a Project Manager with strong enabling and earthworks experience to join our clients Civil Works delivery team on one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects. This role will focus on the early-stage enabling works programme, including directional drilling, marine structures, shafts, and associated earthworks.
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager for Enabling & Earthworks, you’ll play a vital role in preparing the site and programme for construction. The successful candidate will drive key readiness processes, including final design approvals, permitting and consents, and ensure packages are set up for successful delivery against cost, schedule, and quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities
Lead project delivery of enabling and earthworks packages (e.g. directional drilling, shafts, marine structures, bulk earthworks), valued at up to £50m.
Support readiness processes including consents, environmental approvals, and final design assurance.
Coordinate delivery activities across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and construction phases.
Interface with internal stakeholders including consents teams, engineering and design assurance, commercial leads, and site delivery teams.
Engage with suppliers and contractors to ensure smooth mobilisation and early site execution.
Ensure all works are delivered in line with safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
Manage planning and coordination of programme interfaces, including with tunnelling and marine packages.

Required Skills and Experience
~10+ years’ experience in the construction sector, ideally within civils, enabling works, marine, or infrastructure projects.
~ Minimum of 5 years in a Project Management role, delivering complex packages over £10–20m.
~ Experience on client side or regulated infrastructure (e.g. rail, water, airports, MOD, nuclear) highly desirable.
~ Familiarity with the pre-construction phase, including permitting, environmental consents, and final design coordination.
~ Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage packages against time, cost, and quality metrics.
~ Good working knowledge of construction processes and associated health, safety and environmental standards.
~ Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to operate confidently in a matrix organisation.

Qualifications
Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline (preferred).
Chartered Engineer or Chartered Project Manager (or working towards).

What We’re Looking For
A proactive, delivery-focused PM with strong coordination skills.
Someone who thrives in fast-paced, early-phase project environments.
A confident communicator who can work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
A hands-on project leader who’s happy to be on site in Suffolk at least 3 days per week .
